Results of the IMO Video Meteor Network - February 2007

As in most previous years, February was not a spectacular month. Meteor
activity is at their lowest and you start to realize that the nights are
getting shorter again. In most years, the weather is unstable and not
favourable to the observers. 2007 was no exception in this sense: It was
much too warm at many sites, and whereas the observers in the Alps region
and southern Europe still had acceptable conditions, there were just a few
clear nights for the more northern observers. Only the middle of February
presented a few clear nights to most observers, which was sufficient to
yield a new overall February record.
Keeping in mind that the data of Remo1 is still missing, it might have been
the first February with over a thousand hours of effective observing time.
Those more than two and a half thousand meteors enlarged the video meteor
database by over 50% for this month. February is still the month with fewest
meteors, but it almost catched up with May.
