Results of the IMO Video Meteor Network - February 2005 ======================================================= February started as promising as January had ended, but then the real winter begun with snow even at far southern places as well as cloudy skies for weeks. Weather in central Europe improved not before the end of the February. Then we got clear skies and lousy cold temperatures thank to a high pressure system. -25 deg Centrigrade and below was something many of us only knew only from the 1998 Leonid expedition to Mongolia - this time in was right at our front door! Meteor activity in February was low as expected. Remarkable, however, was the difference in meteor detection efficiency of otherwise identical camera systems. Equipped with a Mintron camera and a 6mm f/0.8 Computar lens, one observer recorded up to 40 meteors per night, whereas another was happy to record 5 meteors at the same time. The reason for these differences is still to be determined. 1.
