Results of the AKM Video Meteor Network - November 2003

November was a typical autumn month in Germany. Temperatures were not as low
as in October, but therefore we had plenty of fog and low stratus.
Especially in the last decade, sunshine was a rarity and there was all day
and night the same bleak weather. The Leonids were a miss at most observing
sites. So it's no surprise that we could collect "only" about 560 hours of
observing time, and that there were four nights without an observation in
November. On the other hand, two observers still managed to get 21 and 19
observing nights, respectively.
Ilkka Yrjola of Finland resumed observation with a Watec 902H camera. He is
quite excited, since he managed to record about as many meteors as with his
former intensified camera. Detlef Koschny could almost not observe due to
poor skies at the North Sea coast, and weather in Australia was poor, too.
The observations of Steve Quirk will be submitted soon. Stephen Evans in
England could not observe last month due to health problems.
I'm especially happy to welcome our new observer Stefan Ueberschaer, who
has been operating his Mintron camera with a 25 mm f/0.95 lens since
mid-November. Thus, in the future we will have observations from Aachen again,
were I used to observe regularly from 1999 to 2002.
