Results of the AKM Video Meteor Network - June 2002 =================================================== Whereas the first part of June was almost a complete miss for the central European observers, there were at least a few clear nights in the second half of June. Unfortunately the nights are very short at 50 deg northern latitude close to the solstitium, so that we could collect only a few hours of observing time. Interestingly the difference in latitude between Berlin and Munich makes up for a difference of about 1.5 hours per night in effective observing time in June! As in last June, Juergen Rendtel was on a business trip at Teneriffe, but unfortunately he did not have a meteor camera available there as in 2001. Ulrich Sperberg and Andre Knoefel obtained no observations due to poor weather and other commitments, and the observations of Orlando Benitz-Sanchez were not yet reported. Steve Evans, on the other hand, reported a first observations from his new home in Haverhill. At winter start for the southern hemisphere, Steve Quirk managed to collect well above 200 hours of observing time in Australia. Well done! Rob McNaught on the other hand had to step down a bit due to health problems. Joerg Strunk operated the AKM2 camera during his astro holiday at the Hakos farm in Namibia. Unter perfect skies he managed to record as many meteors as our Australian colleagues, but unfortunately his VCR broke down after only five observing nights. 1.
